Across from me on the bus, a little kid is having a deep conversation with his aunt. I think he is about five years old. He’s dressed, however, like he is fifteen. She must be in her late forties, early fifties. They are talking about her big life decisions, why she did everything the way she did it and how she feels about it now. He looks at her all serious, and asks: “Why don’t you have kids, aunty? Didn’t you want them?”
“Well sweetie, not really. I love kids, I love you, but I just never wanted to be a parent myself.”
“I get that really. I get it when people don’t want to have kids. I mean, we are rather difficult at times. Just this morning I did two despicable things completely on purpose.”
You crack me up, stranger.
